Not much on the board at the sportsbooks tonight in terms of NBA betting with only four games scheduled.  We’ll take a look at a non-conference affair between the Boston Celtics and Sacramento Kings.  Boston has the best record in the Eastern Conference while Sacramento has struggled all season and is near the bottom of the table out West.

While there’s no question that the Celtics are a superior team in all phases of the game, this isn’t exactly a matchup that’s going to provide a lot of motivation for them–and particularly coming off a big road win over the hated LA Lakers.  For that reason, this could be something of a ‘flat spot’ for Boston as they wind up a four game West coast swing.  Sacramento is still not much of a team, but after we spent much of the early part of the season going against them with profitable results they’ve become a strong ‘play on’ candidate of late as they continue to play hard while being dealt inflated NBA lines against them.   Kings have now covered 11 of their last 17 games and have started playing better at home.

This price range, in particular, has been very profitable for Sacramento in recent years.  Kings are 1-0 as a home underdog of +6 to +9 this season, 6-4 since 2008 and going back even further are on a 23-10 ATS run at this price.  This is a perfect technical example of why the Kings are now a good ATS play–they’ve continued to play hard, pointspreads aren’t reflecting this and they’ve become a team that opponents don’t take overly seriously.  Sacramento is coming off a SU win over New Orleans and they could pull another upset in this game.
