NBA Betting Picks: Orlando Magic at Indiana Pacers
Added on Jan 26, 2011 by Jack Thurman in
Busy Wednesday in the online betting world, and we’ll take a look at a NBA game between the Orlando Magic and Indiana Pacers. The Magic are tied for second place in the Southeast Division with the Atlanta Hawks, two and a half games behind the Miami Heat. The Pacers are in second place in the Central Division though this matters little since they’re 16-25 and 13 games behind the leading Chicago Bulls.

The Magic haven’t been a great road team this season–they’re just 12-10 SU/8-13 ATS and have a much bigger game against the aforementioned Chicago Bulls on deck Friday night. They clearly have the talent to win and cover this margin, but with the Pacers being an inconsistent underdog we’re not really interested in the side play. Instead, we’ll look to the total which from a basketball betting perspective looks a bit high considering the recent play of the home team. Indiana has gone Under in 15 of their 20 home games as well as 15 of 20 games against opponents with winning records. Before they played several Over’s during a stretch that saw 6 of 8 games on the road they’d stayed beneath the total in 8 straight and 10 of their L12.
Both teams play solid defense and although Orlando can score points they’re not a team that *has* to do so to win. The head to head series has trended strongly Under with 6 of the last 9 overall and 4 of the last 5 in Indianapolis failing to exceed the total. We don’t see anything to suggest that the typical style and tempo of game between the Pacers and Magic will change and will look for another game Under the total.
