If you’re looking to bet on NBA action you’re in luck on Monday with a full card of games.  We’ll take a look at an Eastern Conference battle between the Washington Wizards and New York Knicks.  Knicks are improved over their dismal performance of last year thanks to the MVP level performance of Amare Stoudemire.  They’re in second place in the Atlantic Division though they’re quickly losing sight of the first place Boston Celtics.  The Wizards are a mess–they’re in last place in the Southeast Division and in the mix for the worst record in the Eastern Conference.

The Knicks are coming off a horrendous stretch of games that included 7 road contests against Western Conference foes and they desperately need a win.  New York has lost six straight and seven of eight going 3-4-1 ATS.  Fortunately, they’ve got the right opponent at the right time to break a losing streak.  The Washington Wizards have been bad in all settings this year but they’ve been laughable on the road.  They’re the only team in the NBA that has yet to win away from home (0-20 SU)–in fact, only one other team (Minnesota) has fewer than *three* wins on the road.

Not only have the Wizards not won on the road this season, they haven’t been very competitive in losing with a 5-15 ATS mark.  They’re 13-20 ATS as an underdog and 1-4 ATS as a road dog in this price range (+6′ to +9).  The Knicks aren’t a great pointspread team at home, but they have dominated head to head play with the Wizards.  They’ve won and covered both previous meetings this season including a 21 point victory at Madison Square Garden in November.  Even with some of the sorry teams they’ve had in the past couple of years, they’ve had to problem with Washington–since 2008 New York is 8-2 SU/ATS overall including 5-0 SU/ATS at home.  They do have a potential lookahead to their next game against Miami, but it’s three days away and the team needs to win now.  They should have little trouble doing so here.  The current sportsbook line on the game has the Knicks installed as a -8′ point favorite but we expect them to win by double digits.

Bet New York Knicks -8′ over Washington Wizards
