Frank Mir Vs Brendan Schaub Rumored For March

The rumors are starting to get louder and louder of a heavyweight fight between Frank Mir and Brendan Schaub. MMAjunkie is saying to look for this fight in March at UFC 129 on March 19th, or at UFC Live 3 on March 3.
Last time we saw Mir was at UFC 119 when he knocked out Mirko Crocop, and it sounds exciting and all, but it was a snoozer of a fight. Both walked in circles and pawing jabs, and were clinch fighting against the cage for almost 13 solid minutes. Then Mir landed a knee that crumpled Crocop. The fight was terrible that UFC President Dana White threatened to fire Mir even though he won by Knock out. The UFC played with the idea of doing a rubber match between Frank Mir and Brock Lesnar. The fans did not like this idea, and took to the internet/twitter to let White know that they weren’t interested in it. Mir submitted Lesnar in February of 2008, but lost by technical knock out in July of 2009.
The 27 year old Brendan Schaub, last fought at UFC 121 where he won an easy decision against former title contender Gabriel Gonzaga. It turned out to be Gonzaga’s last fight in the Octagon. The only loss Schaub has is to Ultimate Fighter winner Roy “Big Country” Nelson, but his 2010 has ended with 3 straight wins and is no 7-1. Schaub is training partners with former interim heavyweight champion Shane Carwin at Grudge Training in Colorado, but he can also be found in New Mexico training with Greg Jackson on occasion.
As of right now, they have verbally agreed to fight, but nothing is signed as of yet. I will be shocked if this is a main event fight. I was at UFC 119, and after that performance by Mir, I wouldn’t give him a main event for a while. I wouldn’t even put him as the main event on the Versus card, the fight was that bad. Off night or not, I would rather see some of the WEC implants get some main event dollars before I gave it to Frank Mir.
