“Ruthless” Robbie Lawler is set to fight Matt ‘The Law’ Lindland, and Lawler insists he is more focused than Lindland. We are going to find out one way or the other when the two meet in the Strikeforce cage this Saturday at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis for the “Henderson Vs. Babalu” card.

Lawler said in a conference promoting the fight “I am not too worried about what is happening after this fight. I am worried about training for Matt and stepping in there and doing my best.” He insist that he isn’t looking past anyone, and that he isn’t really concerned with the belt right now.

Lawler, a product from the HIT Squad, has changed everything about his training coming in the fight. He has traveled to Power MMA and Fitness in Gilbert, Ariz., to drill his wrestling with some of the sport’s best. Lawler is happy with the camp he has, and is in a good place with the changes. “I didn’t go down to Arizona this time because the gym wasn’t open, but I’ve been working on my wrestling as much as I’ve been working on all my other skills. I’ve trained hard for this fight, and I look forward to it.”

One thing is certain, Lawler knows how to knock people out, and has dangerous power in both hands. The 28-year-old sports an impressive 16 of his 19 career victories by KO. Lawler likes knocking fighters out, just ask Trigg, Scott Smith or Manhoef. He enjoys doing it! “It feels good,” he said. “When you hurt someone, you just have to go in there and look for the finish and get it done.”

No one is pretending there is a question of how Lawler wants this fight to go down. He wants to put fist to face as quick as possible, and is training to add Lindland to his KO list. “I expect Matt to come out and be in my face and [for] me to have a chance to hit him. I think he is a smart fighter, so I don’t think he is just going to go in there and wrestle from the start. He’s been working on all his skills, so I am ready for a little bit of stand-up before he closes the distance.”

He will have to deal with the Olympic Class wrestling of Matt Lindland in this fight. Lindland’s plan will be to come in and take down Tom. Lindland has said himself, “Ill take him down, and pound a hole in his head.” Lawler disagrees with those statements, he said “I don’t know how he thinks it is going to be, but I have been working on my skills and my wrestling, and I have been working on everything. I think you have to ask Matt how easy he thinks it will be. I think he thinks it will be tough. And it will be.”

Robbie Lawler is coming off of a decision loss to main event fighter, Renato “Babalu” Sobral, and is looking to get back in the win column with a knock out victory over Matt Lindland.
