Jackson MMA Fires Back at White For Comments He made
Added on Nov 30, 2010 by John Petit in
Dana White has been known for his strong opinions, and he is not afraid to make him. Some feel that is why he is so good for the job as UFC President, but others think he goes to far sometimes. Although Dana will fess up and admit when he makes a mistake, I highly doubt it will happen this time. After UFC 120, White made a few comments about Marquardt and his camp in the post fight presser.
White said of Marquardt “He is a choker, he choked tonight. Marquardt is such a talented guy, and what I’m seeing is stuff from the Greg Jackson camp, this camp continuously, when these guys fight, their corner is either telling them they’re ahead or they’re winning,” White went on to say “I mean, Nate sat here tonight and said that he thought he won the fight. Where the f— is his corner? You go into the last round and you’re getting out struck by a wrestler, and you think you won the fight? And this is consistent with the Greg Jackson camp.”
Dana is referring to how flat Nate looked in the third round in his fight against Yushin Okami at UFC 120. It appeared to everyone that Nate was clearly losing the fight by decision, and it really felt like he was trying to coast to a win. Which has been done by Jackson fighters in the past when the stakes were at there highest. This is one of the reasons why some regard Jackson’s MMA as one of the best camps in the world, and why some people do not like Jackson’s at all.
It is not shocking that Greg Jackson’s camp highly disagrees with Dana White’s remarks.
“We are proud of our team and our coaches and continuously strive in training and performance to represent Jackson’s Mixed Martial Arts as the premier fighting system in the world,” said a statement released Tuesday by Jackson’s MMA general manager Ricky Kottenstette. It continued “In the UFC alone, so far this year (2010) there have been 22 events, and our team has been honored with 12 bonuses. That means for one out of every two UFC’s you watch, our team is taking home either Knockout, Submission, or Fight of the Night honors.”
The release also contained this list of statistics from 2010 alone.
