Fantasy Football: Vince Young Out for the Season
Added on Nov 22, 2010 by Barry in
The Tennessee Titans are a promising young football team with a lot of talent, especially on the offensive side of the football, but they suffered a big blow in Week 11 as they lost starting quarterback Vince Young to a thumb injury which will sideline him for the rest of the season.
Most people think a thumb injury isn’t something that would keep a football player out for the season, but for a quarterback an injured thumb could be devastating, especially on his throwing hand.
Even though Vince Young hasn’t been playing all that well over the past few weeks and was really struggling in the overtime loss to the Washington Redskins which resulted in boos from the hometown fans, he still had some fantasy football value.
Obviously, if you have Vince Young on your squad it was a probably in a backup capacity as he has only hit double digit fantasy numbers in four games this season. If you do have Young on your squad though it is time to cut the cord as he will no longer be under center this season, but fortunately there are some quarterbacks that should be available that you should consider picking up in his place.
Shaun Hill, Detroit Lions
The Detroit Lions are definitely a better team with Matthew Stafford under center, but Shaun Hill has proven to be a viable backup and a solid pickup if you are looking to replace Vince Young.
Jon Kitna, Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys were really missing Pro Bowl quarterback Tony Romo after he went down with a broken clavicle a few weeks against the New York Giants, but even though Jon Kitna really struggled in his first few games, the veteran QB has thrown for six touchdowns in the last two games and should continue his solid production.
Sam Bradford, St. Louis Rams
The rookie quarterback was pretty streaky in the first few weeks of the season, but since then he has put up some decent numbers and would be a good replacement if you need a good backup QB.
