NBA Betting Picks: New Jersey Nets at Denver Nuggets
Added on Nov 20, 2010 by Jack Thurman in
The New Jersey Nets are far from being playoff contenders but they’ve definitely shown improvement since last season. They’ll conclude a four game road trip on Saturday night with a game against the Nuggets in Denver. The Nuggets have plenty of talent but have been erratic and unfocused all season. Denver is off a Thursday night road loss to Portland while the Nets played and lost last night in Sacramento.

Typically the Denver Nuggets are a team we look to play against but this looks like a spot where this collection of talented head cases might exert a good effort. Sure, it’s against a weak non-conference team but the game sets up well for the home team. New Jersey is at the end of a four road game in six night stretch and played last night in Sacramento. Now they head to the high altitude of Denver which is never an easy proposition for visiting teams. The Nets have gone 4-2 ATS on the road this season and give a good effort on most nights, but the uptempo Nuggets with a number of potent scoring options are a bad tactical matchup for them.
This has been a strong ATS role for the Nets in recent years–they’re on a 12-4 ATS run as a road underdog of 9′ to 12 points since 2008. On the other hand, they’ve been at their worst against the Northwest Division with a 5-16 ATS record in that same timeframe. We’re thinking that the Nuggets will push the tempo and that the tired legs of the road weary Nets will be unable to catch up. Denver won both meetings a year ago and covered both winning by 17 at home and 28 on the road. We look for a similar result here.
